Help Abena Rebuild After Floods

On 29th June 2026, devastating floods swept through Accra, destroying my home and almost everything I owned, including my personal library of over 400 books. I have created this fundraiser to help me rebuild my life and restore my library so I can continue promoting books, supporting authors, and sharing stories with readers across Ghana and beyond.

Why this matters

My library was the heart of my work and a reflection of years of careful collecting, learning, and sharing stories with others.

Hello, my name is Abena Maryan, a Ghanaian Bookstagrammer, Book Influencer, Book Blogger, Podcaster, creative writer, and the creator of the #ReadGhanaianChallenge, a community dedicated to celebrating Ghanaian and African literature. Since joining Bookstagram in 2019 and launching my podcast in 2022, I have used my platforms to inspire readers, promote authors, and create meaningful conversations around books and storytelling. Over the years, I carefully built a personal library of more than 400 books that became the heart of my work. On 29th June 2026, devastating floods swept through Accra, destroying my home and almost everything I owned, including the library I had spent years building. I have created this fundraiser to help me rebuild my life and restore my personal library so I can continue promoting reading, supporting authors, and serving the literary community across Ghana and beyond.
